I am a social scientist currently affiliated with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). I specialize in Agricultural Extension. My research interests encompass policy analysis, agricultural innovation systems, and digital agriculture. Within the innovation system, I focus on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), livelihood and nutrition, and climate-smart agriculture.
My previous work, which involved fieldwork and extensive engagements with agricultural stakeholders, has fuelled my interest in climate-smart agriculture and the role of technology in its adaptation and mitigation. My research project, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, investigated the policy ecosystem for climate-smart agricultural systems in Telangana state, India. It also looked at the external and internal drivers of crop diversification in contexts where smallholders are trying to balance the impacts of climate change and uncertainties of markets.
At the Agribusiness and Innovation Platform (AIP), International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), I worked on understanding the socio-economic implications of development interventions, conducting policy advocacy based on research findings, and pioneering new research approaches and methodologies.
During my tenure as a MANAGE Fellow at the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), India, I undertook research on Extension and Advisory Services and undertook value chain analysis in the agricultural sector from a systems perspective for policy advocacy..
I received my PhD in Agricultural Extension from the College of Post-Graduate Studies, Central Agricultural University, Imphal.
